Brief: Make the church walls feel light and luxurious.
Highlights: I had an amazing canvas to work with here thanks to the architects and landmark. The church, built in the 1920s by Louise Whitfield Carnegie, is a unique piece of NYC history, and its cathedral-like limestone arches make it a strikingly unexpected venue for a coffee shop. The challenge was to brighten it up, and thus it was about taking care of the little things — from the potted plants to the artwork and mirrors, all completed with bright accents of blue and green across the space. Add Bluestone Lane’s signature coffee and the natural light that floods in every day, and you’ve got yourself a winner.
