Project: Ms.G
Client: Merivale Group
Location: Sydney
Opened: 2011
Brief: Asian fusion restaurant that is purposely 'street' and achingly cool.
Highlights: Despite its grungy aesthetic, this actually was one expensive fit-out. The venue is set over five levels linked by terrazzo stairs. Distressed, graffiti-covered walls took longer than I would have liked, but those, along with vintage classroom chairs around custom table tops and moody lighting made Ms.G’s an instant hit with the hipsters of Sydney. Sourced key design elements like post-Mao pop art graphics and conceived/designed the restaurant’s beloved ‘zine-style menus. Commissioned a piece of roped lighting art that perfectly enhanced the height of the windows and views across Sydney harbor. Stand out moment was designing the pink "six two one" neon art. 621 is the number for monosodium glutamate, the joke behind the name Ms.G. See what we did there?
